The possibility of running in to a celebrity while eating lunch with a co-worker at Panera Bread probably doesn't happen every day. I know that. But just in case it ever does happen again Jackie, remember you must always be camera ready! (Somehow I doubt this advice will stick). But, of course, bad hair day and all, me being me, I went right up to him and asked if he'd take a picture with me. He was SO nice! I wondered if he'd go all diva-like on me (is there a term for a male diva?) and blow me off, but he didn't. He said sure and asked me if I'd ever been out to the shop in Le Claire. I haven't, so I didn't lie. He told me I should come out sometime. Maybe I'll have to do that. Maybe this weekend even. Anyone want to join me? Anyway, that was my fun exciting lunch-time brush with fame today. :)

So cool!!! I love him, he seems like such a sweetheart on the show. I want to know more details. What did you say when you went up to him? What did he say? Did anyone else in Panera recognize him? What about after they saw you take your picture with him?

ReplyDeleteHe was eating lunch with his mom. No one else even seemed to notice him. I wasn't going to ask at first because I thought, no...he won't want to be bothered. But then I said, who cares...he's a celebrity and that's what happens. I won't be the first to ask for a pic and I'm sure I won't be the last. :) So, when he was done eating I walked over to him and said "Hi Mike! My name is Jackie (then we shook hands). My husband and I watch your show all the time. Would you mind taking a quick picture with me?". He was super nice and said he didn't mind at all. That's when he asked if I'd ever been out to the shop. Then it was over. I actually have a little bit of video of it too, only because I forgot to switch the camera on my phone back to camera mode instead of video. haha OH, His mom was really sweet. Another lady came up to him after I did and took a pic too. And I think others would have too (people were all staring at us at that point) but he was just walking out the door. I purposely waited for him to be done eating so I wasn't totally rude and interupting him.
Mary, yes let's go tomorrow maybe. Take the boys with us. let me know if you're interested.
Sounds cool! Wish I could come too but can't this weekend. Maybe another time. So fun!

ReplyDeletei'll go with you sometime to check out the shop - sounds pretty cool to me! :) i didn't know who this was at first - i've heard of this show before, but i've never watched it. now that you two are friends though, i will be sure to put it on my dvr schedule!
