6 Months

My oh my, Brody.  A half a year already!  I can't believe it.
Here are your stats at 6 months old:
Weight is 19 lbs 5 oz. - 75th percentile
Height is 26  1/4 - 32nd percentile
Head circ is 44.7 - 69th percentile

Some of the things Brody is up to now...
He can roll over quite well, and now prefers to sleep on his tummy or sometimes his side, although I always put him to bed on his back.

Everything everything everything goes into his mouth! I got him the Sophie the Giraffe toy, which is a great little teething squeek toy, and he loves to chew on it. Daddy wasn't too happy after hearing how much it cost ($23!) but, Brody sure loves it!

B LOVES his bath.  LOVES it.  And it always consists of eating the washcloths!

He is still talking and squeeling a lot, and he just SMILES all the time!  People are constantly commenting on how happy he is and we just love that.  Even the nurse today couldn't get over how smiley he was.

Brody still eats 5 bottles a day, and is doing great with his one meal of rice and veggie.  So far he's had peas, green beans, and carrots...yum!  Still to try are sweet potatoes and squash, plus all the fruit puree's (which include apples, pears, peaches, and prunes).  I bought him one of those net things that you put an apple slice (or some kind of fruit or veggie) in to chew on, but we haven't tried that yet.

I did make some homemade baby food for him one weekend, but it didn't work out.  I won't go into too much detail (I took all these pictures because I was planning to do a little write up on making it), but long story short, my food processor doesn't puree the food enough for baby's first feedings.  So right now it's just the store bought stuff.  I'll still make some food for him when he can handle the slightly chunkier meals.

He has been battling a cold (runny nose, cough, ear infection) for a little over a week now, but he seems to be getting better.  The doctor said today that the ear infection looks like it's better, but we're concerned about the cough that is still hanging around.  I mentioned that Jeff and I both have asthma (and Jeff's side of the family all has asthma) so the doc was a little concerned about that.  He's finishing up the last of the amoxicillin but now has three days on a steroid to see if that will help with the inflamation in his lungs.  I'm to report back to him on Monday and we'll go from there.  He said if he still wasn't better by then, then we'll have to do a chest x-ray and some breathing treatments.  He's not dignosed with asthma yet, but it's not ruled out.  Poor guy.

I asked our doctor for a second opinion on his eyes (regarding the cross eyed thing), and he didn't really say too much, but I got the feeling he didn't seem to think anything was wrong.  He wants us to keep the appointment with the opthamologist though, because it never hurts to have an expert opinion...so we will.

He has two teeth!  And I believe he's already working on the top ones too (although I thought he was working on the bottom ones for like 2 months before he actually got them, so what do I know!?).

Brody is still a rock-star sleeper and continually sleeps thru the night.  We put him to bed still between 8 and 8:30 and he gets up around 6:30-7:00 or so.

Going in to get him in the morning is the BEST.  He is just so happy and gets all excited to see you.  Huge smile on his face and kicks his legs in excitement.  So cute!

He also takes pretty good naps.  Always a good 1.5-2 hours in the morning, usually again for that long in the afternoon, and then another 45 minute nap later in the day.

He loves daycare still and enjoys watching all the other kids play.  We've also been noticing how much he likes Gus.  He will watch him move around a room and even laughs and smiles at him.

He's wearing size 3 diapers and is into his 6-9 and 6-12 month clothing.  The nurse today said his growing should start to slow down a bit now, and thank goodness for that because at this rate he'd be out of this size clothing soon too!  Such a big boy.  I don't know why I'm always so amazed how big he is.  I have to remind myself how gigando I got when I was pregnant.  Brody's always been our big strong boy.

OK, side-story for ya.  Everytime I think about how big and strong Brody is I start to sing the Bare Naked Ladies song in my head that goes..."When you were born, they looked at you and said, what a good boy, what smart boy, what a strong boy"!  Haha

On to some more pictures...

  2. Ew. I need to stop wearing my hair that way. Gross. We had fun hanging out with baby Brody and mama yesterday. He IS so sweet and happy!

If you can still return yours, you can just use the mesh food things that I got. Owen never liked them, so he only used them maybe once or twice. I think I have two.

  3. Don't think Brobo can take a bad picture. He is just so darn cute! Love his cute smile feeling his daddy's whiskers and the two of them sleeping--Jeff and mini Jeff. Looks like the two little boys will be good buds one day, so cute. Also enjoyed going to the park with the boys, that was fun!
