Do me a Solid

Yay! Brody started "solids"! (If you can really call it that...).  We gave B his first taste of Rice Cereal last Friday.  It went.....well....interesting! I made it according to the package directions for a first feeding, but it was definitely too watery.   Here are some pics of our chunky monkey chowin' down.  (I tried several different ways to upload the video of this but nothing works...the file is just too large I think).

What are we doing on the table?  This is new!

Look at me!  I can feed myself!

This is different...

What the heck was that!?

Gimme that spoon!

Let's try this again.
So since this day, we've fed Brody rice cereal mixed with breast milk once a day.  I won't say that it is going badly necessarily, but I can't exactly say it's going great either.  He just seems really disinterested in the cereal and WAY more interested in looking at all the other things in the room.  He always turns his head away from the spoon and the only way I can get him to "eat" any is if I shove it in his mouth.  Of course, then I just feel bad, like I am forcing him to eat it.  He does pretty well once it's in his mouth and only spits out a little of it, but still. I keep thinking it's because rice cereal is just so bland.  Any moms out there care to offer me any tips?  How long should I stick with the plain rice cereal before introducing something with a little more flavor?  I'm thinking hoping that if he tasted something more yummy that it would hold his interest better...??
